Ventura County Chapter

Headquartered in the City of San Buenaventura, located on the Pacific Ocean at the southern end of Highway 33, gateway to the Ojai Valley and the Los Padres National Forest, Mt. Pinos Recreation Area, Lockwood Valley (passage way of the San Andrea Fault), the rugged Cuyama Valley and on to the Carrizo Plains National Monument, the Ventura County Chapter aids in habitat improvement for our native and migratory bird and small animal populations.
Our field opportunities are used to support the Game Bird Heritage program of the California Department of Fish and Game. We assist DFG in their Family Pheasant hunts with volunteer dog handlers and bird planters to provide new, junior and women hunters an opportunity for their first hunting success.
With our close ties to the Ojai Valley Gun Club and the Ojai Valley Junior Rifle Club, we also provide educational opportunities for the youth of our communities with firearms safety training and hunter education.
· Firearms safety is stressed through the use of NRA certified instructors and range safety officers at the monthly shoots and annual NRA Sportsfest and Shooting Camp held in the late spring.
· Hunting education is provided to the future of our sport, our youth, through QU Covey Camps and DFG certified Hunter Safety courses.
And finally, for the rest of our members, we get together to hunt, shoot a round of trap or sporting clays or just talk about our latest adventures. Come join the fun!
