Budweiser, one of our corporate partners in wildlife conservation, recently announced a new program that they will be implementing with Quail Unlimited, our chapters, our members and our supporters throughout the country this year. The project is called The Budweiser Quail Unlimited Adopt A Covey Program. Essentially, this is a program in which Budweiser will encourage landowners to implement quail and wildlife-friendly habitat management projects on their property. Any farmer, rancher or landowner who implements wildlife-friendly practices, such as participation in the farm bill, seasonal discing, timber thinning, prescribed burning, establishment of food plots and, especially, the establishment of nesting and brood-rearing cover, will be eligible. We will elect one "Farmer of the Year" from each of our nine geographical regions, based on a merit and point system (the more practices implemented, the higher the point value). We will feature an article on each of those individual landowners and their properties in Quail Unlimited magazine.
One national overall winner will be elected and he (or she) will be featured on the cover of Quail Unlimited magazine and will win a trip, courtesy of Budweiser, to the 2006 Quail Unlimited Chevrolet Celebrity Quail Hunt. However, there is more. We will host a television program, including the winner and a tour of his property, that will be featured on one of the major outdoor networks. Individual members can support this project through a direct mail program that will be coming out shortly. For a $25 donation, each recipient will receive a wildlife art print, lapel pin, bumper sticker, conservation pledge card and a wildlife booklet featuring tips on how to manage agricultural and forest lands for quail and wildlife. I hope that all members will be eager to participate by making a $25 donation. You will receive back much more than that in value, and you will be helping us reach a great many more landowners with this program.
