Edgefield, SC (January 21, 2008)—In cooperation with the Southeast Quail Study Group (SEQSG), Quail Unlimited is pleased to announce a request for nominations for the Northern Bobwhite Conservation Initiative Group Achievement and Individual Awards for 2008. These awards recognize outstanding action and involvement by an agency, organization or group and a federal agency employee in helping implement and promote the Northern Bobwhite Conservation Initiative (NBCI). The Initiative was first released in March 2002 with publication of the NBCI Plan. More information on the NBCI can be located at www.bobwhiteconservation.org. These awards will be presented at the 73rd North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on March 26, 2008.
In 2007, the Missouri Department of Conservation was recognized as the winner of the NBCI Group Achievement Award. Also in 2007, the NBCI Individual Award category honored the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Agriculture Wildlife Conservation Center Director, Pete Heard.
NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Nominations must include contact information for the agency, organization, group nominee or federal employee; background history (education, special training, etc.), a concise summary of NBCI related activities that justify the nomination, and nominator contact information. Nominations must be submitted in Word format to bobwhite@psci.net or can be faxed to 812-536-3159. Nomination information should not exceed 5 pages.
