Matt Harper
Matt Harper’s hunting experience began as soon as he was old enough to walk beside his father. Although he enjoys all kinds of hunting with both bow and gun, deer hunting is his favorite. He harvested his highest-scoring deer when he was only sixteen -- a 3½-year old that net scored 153 with an impressive 24-inch spread.

Matt is a graduate of Iowa State University where he received a degree in Animal Science with a special focus and advanced study in ruminant nutrition. While at Iowa State, he also conducted research on forage utilization by ruminants and even had specific studies in whitetail deer genetics.

Before coming to the Institute, Matt worked for one of the world’s largest feed companies on their technical staff where he was primarily involved in developing mineral, vitamin and nutritional supplement products for exotic animals, especially whitetail deer.

When the Institute decided to further develop its interest in nutritional supplements for management practices, Matt was the man for the job. Overseeing the highly specific nutrients, the material sources and the precise amounts and ratios is left to Matt.

Matt loves his work with the Institute. “To be able to work in a field that is one of my favorite hobbies is truly a blessing.”
