An Amazing Summer:

I hope everyone has enjoyed the NEW Quail Unlimited magazine; we have made some dramatic changes to our great outdoor magazine with a new look, feel and over all construction of the magazine. We now have a new logo, bigger photos and even more outdoor articles to help promote the great outdoors that we all cherish so much. We are now in the process of delivering our second issue of the new magazine, our fall issue; with even a bigger flash.

Thanks again for everyone’s support and dedication for this great organization, without you all this wouldn’t be possible.

It has been an amazing couple of months since you held your Summer issue of the new QU magazine in your hands. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to e-mail or call to express your thanks and compliments in regard to the magazine’s new look. I would also like to thank Steve Smith and the great team at Village Press for all of their hard work, not only with our magazine, but with our QU membership services as well. It has been enjoyable to hear how all of you have recognized the very efficient response to your membership questions and concerns. For me, it has been so pleasing to be able to see accurate membership information in such a timely manner. This will be tremendously helpful going forward to ensure that we all understand “where we are” and “where we are going.”
In my travels this summer, I have been so impressed with the passion, dedication, and determination from every Quail Unlimited member who I have had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you! I know that I was only one of thousands of QU members who only wanted the best for quail, quail habitat, and the great people who do this conservation work all across this nation.
Actually, as I am writing this message, I am in an airplane on my way back to Georgia from California. Like everywhere I have been so far, I was impressed with the conservation efforts in this great state. I was even more impressed with the people. Thank you. I have attended many meetings, and received so many phone calls and e-mails. And yes, there have been some tough questions asked, and they more than deserve to be asked and discussed. I am very proud that we are finding the answers and working together. We are reshaping QU for the future, the future of quail conservation, and the future for our youth.
There are many improvements and changes being made. Some of them include the re-writing of the BOD Bylaws, changing the way that BOD positions are named in order to ensure a healthy mix of BOD members to guide in making the best decisions. All of our members’ voices will be heard from now on. Our chapter bylaws are being rewritten as well. There will be no more “us and them,” – just us. All QU members – together – are working as hard and as fast as possible to make these changes. I am always available if needed. Please let me hear from you.
The plans for our National Events are also moving forward. You should plan on seeing a much better and much larger event in Albany, Georgia, the last weekend this coming January. That will include more activities and opportunities for everyone to participate. We are in the planning stages for a great Sporting Clays Tournament in June 2011, there is another very large event being organized for September (more details later), and we are preparing for our QU dog trials as well.
